  • Click on the Power icon and then select Restart, while keep holding the Shift key.
  • Finally, release the Shift key as soon as the system begins to restart. The system will restart in the safe mode.

2. Disable the Automatically Restart Feature

Windows 10 has the in-built feature of the auto-restart the computer to tackle application failures and other errors. However, if you are facing the problem of a repetitive system restart, this feature can be easily disabled.

Before moving forward to know how to disable the automatic restart option, you have to keep one thing in mind that once this option is disabled, the next time your system experience a failure, it will not be able to restart and would freeze, show a distorted image, or just blue or black screen. So, remember to re-enable the automatic restart option once the system starts.

From the windows search box, search, and open Control Panel.

  • Select System and Security option.
  • Click on the System option.
  • Now from the left pane, choose Advanced System Settings.
  • On the next window, under Startup and Recovery, click on Settings.
  • Under System Failure, uncheck the Automatically disable option. Click OK and exit.

3.  Disable Fast Startup

It might be possible that the fast startup is causing your system trouble, and therefore continuous restart is occurring. It is better to disable the Fast Startup and check if the issue persists.

  • Open Control Panel by searching it on the windows search bar.
  • Navigate to Hardware and Sound Hardware and sound.

  • Open Control Panel and click on Uninstall a program.
  • Arrange the apps in order of the installed date. Choose the app that may be responsible for the problem and Uninstall it.
  • There might be multiple apps causing the trouble; you can remove them all one by one.

  • If there are multiple updates that are causing the trouble, you can one by one uninstall each of them and then reinstall.

6. Update system drivers

Drivers are the link between system hardware to the system operating system. If they are outdated, they can cause malfunctioning, such as the computer keeps restarting. It is essential to keep them updated with the latest version. For that, you can get the third-party Driver Updaters programs that can easily update your system drivers automatically, whenever required. However, if you want to do it manually, you can follow these steps.

  • Right-click on the windows icon and select Device Manager.
  • Check updates for all the essential drivers such as audio, graphic, network, keyboard, etc.
  • If updates are available, install them.

7. Reset Windows to the earlier System Restore Point

Windows has a great feature in the form of the system restore point. In this, users are allowed to restore the system to the last restore point if the system is not working correctly. The restore points are automatically created by the OS whenever a new update or application is installed. Restoring Windows to the previous point would not affect your personal files and data. For resetting Windows, follow these steps:

  • Search for "rstrui" in the windows search bar and click on its icon to open it.
  • Click on Next to continue.
  • Choose the restore point where your system was working properly and click next.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to restore the system to your desired point.

8.  Scan your system for malware

A malware attack could also be the reason for the system failure and, thereby, a continuous restarting problem. It might have entered in your system, corrupted many files, and disabled many functions.

If your system is not equipped with an antimalware, it is recommended to get a robust security solution like Malwarebytes and perform a full system scan.

The hardware fault or some other external issues can also be the reason for the computer keeps restarting. You must ensure that every hardware component of your system is running well.

Random Access Memory (RAM)

RAM is one of the main components for running the system. If it is displaced from its position, it can cause a system failure. You must ensure that it is correctly inserted in its slot. You can also clean it by removing and then re-inserting it.

Check CPU

When heats up, the processor inside the CPU can slow down the system and cause a disturbance in the working of the system. Make sure that the processor fan is operating correctly to cool down the processor. Also, Clean the dust from your CPU.

Faulty power supply

If your system is connected with the faulty power supply, it can repeatedly restart because of that. Check for faulty power supply by starting your device with another power source. If it works perfectly without restarting, then there is an issue with the previous power connection.

10. Check external devices

Usually, many external peripherals are connected to your system for various purposes, such as a printer, fax machine, headphones, mouse, keyboards, USB drive, and many others. You can check if any of them are causing the restart by removing them all, inserting them one by one. If the problem gets fixed by removing all of them, then insert them again one by one and check which device is again causing the issue.
