DIY piñata stick. How to make a piñata with your own hands: a few easy ways. How to make a piñata with your own hands - step by step instructions

Surely the unfamiliar word "piñata" does not evoke any emotions in you. But I'm sure you've seen this piece of entertainment before. Most likely more than once. In Mexican and / or American films. Or perhaps at someone's birthday or other holiday.

Pinata(Spanish. Piñata) is a Mexican-born hollow toy of rather large size, made of papier-mâché or lightweight wrapping paper with ornaments and decorations. With its form, the piñata reproduces the figures of animals (usually horses) or geometric figures that are filled with various treats or surprises for children (sweets, crackers, etc.).

And if clearly, then:

It is quite possible, it is not difficult and not very long to make a piñata on your own. The time and effort spent will pay off with interest! This fun is relevant for both children and adults. Checked!

To make a piñata you will need:

  • Balloon hic. It serves as the basis. Accordingly, the larger the ball, the larger the piñata will be. A large piñata is easier to hit, but heavier and requires more filler (sweets).
  • newspaper / paper and cardboard
  • water and flour - in equal proportions
  • filling (sweets, chocolates, chocolate eggs, etc.)
  • thin crepe paper ("corrugated") for decoration, it is better to use several colors
  • twine / rope / tape
  • scissors
  • PVA glue

I want to draw your attention to the fact that although the piñata is easy to make, it will not work to make it in 1 day, because it takes time to dry several layers of paper with paste.

Manufacturing technology:

1. First things first, inflate the balloon. The shape and size of the piñata depends on its size and shape. Fantasy is limitless, but let's start with the most ordinary balloon... Tie a ball and leave the thread tighter and longer so that you can hang it later and so that the threads can support the weight of the heavier ball.

2. Prepare the newspaper: tear / cut into strips measuring 20-25 cm x 5-7 cm.

3. Prepare the "paste": mix equal proportions of flour and water (about 2 tablespoons of each ingredient). You can cook from real paste, or you can just mix well. It's enough.

4. By analogy with the papier-mâché technique, start covering the balls with strips of newspaper dipped in a mixture of flour and water. Stick the first layer (!), Wetting the newspaper only in water so that the newspaper does not stick to the balloon. Do not apply more than 2 layers at a time. It is best to glue the strips of newspaper crosswise. Do not glue the tip of the ball. From practice I will say that even only 2-3 layers, for example, a 3-5-year-old child is quite strong enough to make efforts, breaking a piñata.

5. After 2 layers are applied, hang the piñata to dry. The next day, repeat step 4. And so on until you reach the required number of layers.

6. While the layers of paper are drying, prepare the decorating cones. Draw a cone on cardboard / paper and cut out. The number and size of the cones is at your discretion. The main thing is that they fit on the ball. Roll up the cones and secure the edges.

7. Carefully burst the ball inside the piñata and pull it out, making a round hole (by cutting it out with scissors) in diameter slightly less than the diameter of the cone. An interesting moment! Fill the piñata with all sorts of goodies.

8. Now you need to "hang" the pinnata well. To do this, make 4 small holes in the ball on the side where the tip of the ball was. Thread the rope / tape / twine through the holes. Cover the holes with newspaper dipped in the same mixture of flour and water. Let it dry.

9. Meanwhile, glue the cones to the pinata. Let's start decorating the piñata. Cut the crepe paper into small strips and fringe them. Cover the cones with strips of crepe paper. Like this:

Then cut the strips wider and make the fringe longer and paste over the piñata ball itself. Of course, it is advisable to take paper of several colors, then the piñata will be more colorful!

Hang the piñata on a stick / tree and call the hero of the occasion / other participants to break it!

For starters, examples of piñatas from the Internet:

P.s. A pinata can have more than just a round base!

At various children's parties, celebrations and weddings, such entertainment as piñata is becoming increasingly popular. What it is? Where can you get it? How to do it yourself? Lots of questions ...

The pinata is a ball of papier-mâché, colorful paper and brightly colored ribbons, held in and filled with sweets. To release such attractive and tempting content, you need to break it with a stick.

History of appearance

So piñata: what is it? For the first time, such entertainment appeared in Mexico, although, according to some reports, it owes its appearance to the inhabitants of China. It was in this country that the New Year was celebrated several centuries ago with the obligatory presence of a large figure of a cow or a bull, filled with flowers and five types of seeds inside. People broke it, burned the remains, and took the ashes for themselves. It was believed that in this case, the coming year will be pleasant in all respects. Mexico with so much fun being integral attribute children's birthdays, met a couple of centuries later. European residents gladly diversified their holidays with exciting entertainment.

Pinata: what is it

The traditional form of the piñata, considered to be a Christmas symbol, is represented by a large signpost to the wanderers. In Spain, such a figurine is made from an earthen pot, to which paper cones are attached on top. For Europe, a more simplified version is characteristic - from papier-mâché. How to make a piñata yourself?

Figures of various contents (houses, flowers, balls), cartoon characters or numbers corresponding to the age of the birthday boy are gaining more and more popularity. In addition to sweets, piñata can be filled with all sorts of pleasant little things: cute prizes, small balls, soft toys, stickers, toys, unexpected surprises. Pinata (the photo can be seen in the article) is an excellent alternative to fireworks, giving, in addition to visual pleasure, a lot of positive and great mood.

DIY guide

How to make a piñata at home? In making such an original fun with your own hands, the scope for imagination is huge; the easiest way to build it is in the form of a ball. First, you need to make a form from papier-mâché, for which you will need:

  • ¼ glasses of wheat flour;
  • 2 teaspoons of starch;
  • 1 glass of cool water;
  • 0.5 liters of boiling water;
  • old newspapers.

The first step is to cook the paste: combine flour with starch, dilute with cold water. Pour the resulting solution into boiling water, stir until smooth, cool.

Cut strips from newspaper (approximately 10 * 30 cm); grease each with paste and glue to the base, which is most conveniently used as an ordinary balloon (not too inflated) or a large gymnastic ball.

It is better to use tape as strings, not threads, so that the ball can be blown out during the drying process. It is recommended to stick newspapers in at least 4 layers, waiting for the previous one to dry completely (about 1-2 hours). If the piñata is intended for small children, 3 coats will suffice; if there is something heavy for an adult or inside, it is better to strengthen the ball with two or three additional layers. To loosen the piñata and make it easier to break, it is recommended that you use a knife to make some neat holes in it.

The mass for papier-mâché can be prepared in a different way - using 8 rolls of toilet paper, 1 liter of PVA glue, 3 liters of water as a material.

In a spacious container, soak in water toilet paper, then squeeze it well. To facilitate this activity, you can use a gauze cloth in which to place the soaked mass. Combine the remaining "cake" with glue and apply to the base, leaving uncovered the place where the ball is tied.

Once the base has dried (this usually takes about 3 days), you can check the piñata to be ready by tapping on it. A characteristic sound will confirm the dryness of the product. Then the tape needs to be untied, and the ball is deflated. WITH inside the papier-mâché base should be dry and smooth.

Complicating the task

For those who have learned to do simple forms piñatas to master its manufacture in the form of various figures will not be difficult. For example, for a figure in the shape of an animal to a balloon with double-sided tape, you need to glue cardboard parts or several balloons of other sizes, on which to apply newspaper mass.

During the manufacturing process, you should decide on the place for which the piñata will be suspended, fasten a hook with wide shoulders, made of a thin wire hanger. The shoulders can be fixed on the inside of the ball with adhesive tape, the hole can be masked with adhesive paper tape.

How to decorate a piñata

Of course, the resulting dirty gray ball at first bears little resemblance to a conceived toy, therefore it requires further design and decoration. Most often, colored corrugated paper is used for decoration, which must be cut into strips 5-7 cm wide in the form of a fringe (across, not completely).

It is required to glue the piñata from the bottom, fringed down, round; the strips should be applied so that one slightly overlaps the other. Leave it to dry for a day.

You can supplement the piñata with such elements as eyes, ears, tail (depending on what types of piñatas are invented). You can also decorate the finished form with satin ribbons, shaggy feathers, pieces of foil, artificial flowers and serpentine.

For example, by gluing the piñata layer by layer with honey-colored paper and decorating it with Velcro bees, you can get a pretty beehive. Piglet, eyes and ears will eventually give a cute pig.

How to fill a piñata

The final maneuver is filling the finished piñata with chewing gum, sweets, and finely chopped colored paper. This can be done through the left hole. When choosing sweets, it is better to give preference to toffee and lollipops, since chocolate can be significantly damaged during the process of hitting the toy. You should also make sure that there are no sharp objects inside that could injure others.

It is recommended to fill the piñata by a third or half, because in order for the toy to break, it must remain inside empty space... In addition, the piñata should be agile, swaying and dodgy enough so that it would be interesting for children to hit on it. It is best to use a bat or a stick for this. For the convenience of breaking the piñata, it is recommended to make it not too bulky and enough big size, on average from 50 centimeters to 1 meter.

Choosing a location

For such a game, a certain space is required so that the rest of the participants can have time to run away, while the blindfolded player, trying to hit the pinata, hits in different directions. Therefore, it is recommended to identify a bright toy on the street, for example, on a branch of a spreading tree. If it is impossible to hold a holiday on the street, the piñata can be hung in the largest room of the room. The figure needs to be firmly fixed so that during the beating it does not come off along with the long-awaited surprises inside.

First strike right

Most often, children are lined up in height and the right of the first blow is given to the smallest. After all, the baby is unlikely to break the piñata the first time, so there is a high probability that all participants can have time to play.

If the right of the first blows is given to older children, then the piñata can be broken faster, which will provide disappointment and tears to the players who did not have time to hit it. It should be remembered that when the piñata is hit by one person, the rest should be at a safe distance.

So, we got the answer to the question: piñata - what is it? For a holiday, such fun is just a godsend. It brings guests together and makes everyone laugh. Pinata is a toy that is an original decoration and entertainment for any celebration, which can set a positive tone for the event and bring a lot of pleasure and joy to the guests.

Everyone loves piñatas! This is a very fun entertainment that will bring a lot of joy to your child and his guests!

Imagine at first you are beating with all your might while blindfolded, for children it is possible without this, on a hanging funny figure, and then it will rain on you from sweets and sweets!

And if you arrange a competition "Who will collect the most sweets" while collecting the contents of the piñata, the event will turn into an everlasting competition.

Of course, in order to independently make a piñata with your own hands, you need to work hard and you need to start doing this in advance. There are several options for making a piñata with your own hands. You can glue it out of cardboard with tape and PVA glue, or make it from a ball of pasted papier-mâché. We'll look at both options.

But let's first decide what we will fill our piñata with.

Pinata filling

It is not necessary to fill the piñata completely; there must be an empty space inside so that it can break. And the pinata must remain mobile enough so that the children would be interested in hitting it, and it dodged and swayed. It is recommended that you fill the piñata with no more than 1/2 to 1/3 part of the piñata.

Small toys can also serve as the original filling of the piñata, the main thing is that they are new, well, or relatively new, even lightweight and unbreakable toys from a kinder surprise will do. Also on sale are ready-made sets of light plastic toys, animals. Imagine the delight of the kids when, after breaking the piñata, not only sweets are poured on them, but also small toys mixed with confetti, paper cutting!

How big can a piñata be?

For the piñata to be easy to break, it must be quite large. But at the same time, it is not too cumbersome, because it still needs to be filled with filling and hung out, and the larger it is, the heavier it is. On average - from 50 cm to 1 meter.

Cardboard pinata

To make a piñata from cardboard, we need:

1. Thin crepe paper or corrugated flower paper. Crepe paper is sold at a stationery store. Corrugated flower paper is thicker, less sticky, and stains your fingers a lot.

Cut the paper into strips.

2. Newspaper
3. Thick cardboard or corrugated box
4. PVA glue, glue gun (it is possible without it, but with it it is much faster and more convenient)
5. Scotch tape or adhesive plaster or masking tape
6. Knife, scissors
7. Thick rope

Cardboard piñatas figures, ponies

The work plan for cardboard piñatas is almost the same.

It is necessary to cut out the piñata scheme from cardboard and glue all sections of the cardboard together with an adhesive plaster or glue gun. Now is the time to put sweets and not big toys inside. Optionally, for secure fastening, it can be glued identical to the dimensions of the cardboard on top plain paper as if wrapping the piñata, but the edges should remain the same sharp.

An important point is that the rope for which the toy will be hung must be attached now, otherwise you will have to drill a new hole and suffer with pulling the cord through it.

We cut long strips of the same width corrugated paper... We fold each strip several times and cut it with a "fence".

We glue strips of paper to the base on PVA or hot melt glue. It is necessary to move in the direction from bottom to top so that the coating is uniform.

Papier-mâché pinata

To make a papier-mâché piñata, we need:

1. Thin crepe paper or corrugated flower paper. Crepe paper is born in a stationery store. Corrugated flower paper is thicker, less sticky, and stains your fingers a lot. The crepe paper must be cut into strips.
2. Newspaper
3. Thick cardboard
4. Durable balloon
5. PVA glue
6. Flour
7. Water
8. Scotch tape or adhesive plaster or masking tape
9. Knife
10. Thick rope
11. Twine
12. Scissors

The work plan for papier-mâché piñatas is almost the same.

Inflate the balloon, tie it and tape all the protruding parts of the balloon, making it perfectly smooth.

Take about 3 cups flour and 3 cups water, the amount of flour is always equal to the amount of water used. If you have a smaller ball, you will need less flour and water. Mix thoroughly. You should have a fairly thick paste.

We glue the first layer with plain water - dip the strips of paper in water and put them on the ball. If you make a layer of paste with this, it will stick to the ball. Leave the layer to dry completely. Do not be alarmed if the dried paper is uneven.

We will glue all the other layers of piñata using a paste: mix 1/4 cup of wheat flour with 1 water. Meanwhile, pour 5 glasses of water into a saucepan and put it on the fire to boil. When the flour mixes well with the water, pour this flour mixture into a saucepan with water and cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, for 3 minutes. The finished paste should be completely cooled.

Soak newspaper strips in papier-mâché paste and remove excess solution before ballooning.

Hang up the balloon and continue to glue it with newspaper strips. Let the first layer dry and then add the second and third layers. Leave the ball to dry completely overnight.

While our ball is drying up, start making the piñata decor.

Make a small hole in the dried ball and release the air. Using scissors, carefully cut out a circle slightly smaller than the diameter of the taper. Remove and discard the deflated rubber ball.

Take your knife and punch a small hole in the opposite edge. Tie the end of a thick rope into double knot and pass it through the small hole. Fill the piñata with candy. Close the hole and secure the entrance with tape.

Take strips of crepe paper and make a wide fringe over it. This is easiest to do when the paper is folded in several layers. Place a very thin line of glue on top of the crepe paper edge. Wrap the fringe around the base of the piñata with the fringe pointing down. Cover each layer of paper with the next layer.

Depending on the theme of the birthday, you can make a suitable pintu. If you have a pirate birthday, make the head of a jolly Roger or an evil pirate, if it's a chivalrous one, make a dragon!

Disney Princess Pinata

The upper part of the princess is an image printed on a color printer or a poster of your favorite Disney princess pasted on thick cardboard folded several times. The main thing here is to secure the upper and lower parts well with masking tape or scraps and not to overload the piñata itself with the filling.

Piñatas look funny with eyes glued on them, faces, in the form of creatively decorated cartoon characters.

How and where to hang a piñata

The piñata can be hung on a tree branch, basketball hoop, wall bars. You can ask two adults to hold the piñata on the rope. One adult can also cope if you tie a piñata to a long stick.

Remember not to hang a piñata on a chandelier!

How and what to break a piñata

It is important to follow the safety rules. You cannot stand near the piñata when it is hit. It is most convenient to break a piñata with a small stick or bat.

You can wear a bandage over your eyes, but if the children are small, then without a bandage.

The rules of whipping look like this: the first lucky guy is selected from the crowd of guests by counting, then everyone line up according to the same count, he is blindfolded and given a bat in his hands. They are placed in front of the piñata and untwisted. And they scatter to the sides, because in the next movement he must hit the piñata, hit it and break it. If it did not work out the first time, it is promoted the second time. And so - as many attempts as you want to give to one participant. This is usually three attempts. If all attempts fail, then the blindfold and the bat are passed on to the next lucky one, and everything is repeated anew.
Happy Birthday!

How to make a child's birthday bright and unforgettable and how to captivate the children's team, turning the raging energy in it into a peaceful channel so that children of any age do not get bored? I think these questions concern many parents on the eve of the children's holiday.

One way to do this is with piñata, a traditional Mexican game.

The piñata is a large, hollow toy filled with sweets and small souvenirs. To get the contents out of the piñata, they hang it and break it with a special bat, having previously blindfolded it.

To make a piñata with our own hands, we need:

  • large balloon,
  • paste,
  • newspaper (or I use drafts and clean copies plain paper Snow Maiden),
  • corrugated paper of the desired color,
  • PVA glue,
  • rope (I use a thin satin ribbon),
  • scissors,
  • awl.

Step 1: Prepare the paste.

We need: 1 glass of flour, 0.5 glass of water, 1 teaspoon of salt.

Step 2: make the base of the piñata.

We tear paper or newspaper into strips. Inflate the balloon of the required size.

We glue the paper onto the ball using a paste. For the first layers we use drafts or newspaper. The number of layers depends on the required strength. How older child, the stronger the Pinata.

If you use a newspaper, then 5-6 layers, if you use drafts, then 3-4 layers of paper are enough.

After gluing each layer, you need to let the paper dry.

When pasting the last layer, you need to use white paper.

To prevent drafts or newspaper from showing through the corrugated paper, especially if the main color of the piñata is light.

Let the base dry well. It may take several days. We remove the ball. We pierce with an awl and take out.

Step 3: Sew the pinata with tape, leaving long ends.

We fix it well from the inside using scotch tape.

If necessary, we glue the necessary elements. I want to note that sometimes additional elements, eyes, nose, mouth, etc., it is more convenient to stick it on the finished Piñata.

Step 4: Cut the corrugated paper into strips. And then the fringe.

Step 5: Glue the corrugated paper to the base.

For gluing corrugated paper, I usually use PVA glue, but you can also use a glue stick. Whom it will be more convenient. We begin to peck the Piñata from below, fringe down. A little effort and the Pinata is ready.

Step 6: Fill the piñata with different sweets and little surprises.

Multi-colored paper can be cut, corrugated paper trims are also great. The filling hole can be cut in advance, or from a ready-made piñata. I usually mask the hole with different elements.

We glue the face.

To break the Pinata, you can take a stick, bat, thin pipe, rolling pin, and more. It can be decorated with ribbons or hung with fringes.

Our piñata is ready!

This kind of entertainment is enjoyed not only by children, but also by adults.

The very nice thing is that you can fully express your imagination, here are some of my works:

Create and make your kids happy!

In Mexico, piñatas are made for children for any occasion. These are rather large toys, inside which they put sweets, confetti, sparkles, in general, the attributes of the holiday. Such fun could be different shapes, but mostly created in the form of animals or geometric shapes... They were originally made from papier-mâché or colored paper. How to make a piñata with your own hands will now be discussed.

These toys came from Mexico, then children began to play in them Latin America and that was several centuries ago. However, even now, a wonderful game is arranged for children mainly on the occasion of a birthday or a new year.

The game

The pinata is suspended at the level of the child's head and given a stick or bat, he hits the toy, and when it breaks, candy, sparkles, in general, all the contents fly out of it. This leads children to indescribable delight. Such a scenario was originally, but you can easily come up with your own. The main thing is that the children are interested. It is not necessary to break the piñata, you can make it just open, then the child can play with it after the holiday.

How to create a piñata

The simplest piñata is made with your own hands, its master class will now be described in detail for a better understanding of all the processes. The creation of this wonderful toy does not require a large investment of money, or maybe everything you need can be found at home. So, we need:

  • balloon,
  • PVA glue,
  • flour,
  • paper tape,
  • colored paper.

Preparing to make a piñata

First you need to tear or cut the newspapers into pieces. A form will be created from them.

Now we are preparing the glue. You can make it from flour by diluting one part of it in two parts of water, after which everything must be thoroughly mixed until smooth. Or use the usual PVA from a tube. You also need a separate small vessel with water.

How to make a piñata

Inflate the balloon to the required size and tie it. Now it needs to be pasted over with scraps of newspapers. The first layer of paper will be attached to the ball with water so that after the entire process it can be easily pulled out from the inside. To do this, we dip the scraps of newspapers into the water and glue them over. The balloon ring should not be glued, because when everything is ready, we will remove it from the toy. When the entire surface becomes covered with the first layer, the next one is applied, but with the help of PVA glue or one that was made from flour. Now, instead of water, newspaper scraps are dipped in glue, and the entire procedure is repeated exactly. It is necessary to make 3-4 layers - so the toy will be strong, but at the same time, upon impact, it can break in order to give up all its contents. After each layer applied, the piñata should dry completely, and only after that the next sheet of paper is applied.

Hanging bracket

We move on to the next step on how to make a piñata with your own hands. When the mold is completely dry, you can remove the ball by untiing it and letting the air out of it. Now you need to think about how the whole structure will be suspended. To do this, you should prepare beautiful ribbon, on which everything will hang, and tie a stick at the end. It needs to be pushed into this hole and placed across it. This is enough reliable way fasteners. However, to be more confident that when struck, the piñata will not break off prematurely, you need to cut a circle out of cardboard with a small hole into which to stick the ribbon and glue it to the piñata body. The additional seal will keep everything more secure.

The second option for hanging a piñata is a wire hook. It is also inserted into the hole that remains of the ball, only the spacer is made of wire, and the ring comes out. And also everything must be carefully glued so that the toy does not fall prematurely from the blows.

So, the piñata, the master class on the creation of which is described in detail here, is ready, now you need to fill it with sweet contents. To do this, we cut out a hole through which sweets and other attributes of the holiday will get inside. It is better to do it at the bottom, so that, upon impact, everything spills out at once and nothing gets stuck inside. In general, you can cut it from any side. You will need a sharp knife, with the help of which cuts are made on the body, and then one or more parts are turned away, through which sweets will get inside. After that, everything can be sealed with paper tape or strips of plain paper, spreading them with glue.

To get a pinata, the photo of which is presented here, you need to decorate it by pasting it with colored paper. In this case, you can add various elements, creating the image of a loved one cartoon hero that the child likes. This will delight the baby even more. An excellent option can be an Angry Birds pinata, it is not difficult to make it on the basis of a papier-mâché ball. One has only to cut a beak with a tuft out of cardboard - and the hero of the world famous cartoon is ready.

Complex forms of piñatas

Now let's look at how to make a piñata with your own hands, but in a more complex shape. There are fairly realistic objects in the form of people, for example. The more complex the shape, the smaller the paper needs to be torn for papier-mâché. This will make the object more realistic, show all the protrusions, even the smallest ones, without folds. In complex layouts, toilet paper is used because it is very thin and does not show folds on it when it dries.

For complex piñatas, you first need to make a shape, the most convenient and common material for this is plasticine. Firstly, it is greasy, thanks to which the paper form will easily come off after everything is dry, and secondly, it is easy to work with it.

How to get a complex shape out of papier-mâché

When creating complex images, the technique is slightly different. When everything is covered with paper and dries up, you need to somehow pull out the plasticine blank from the inside. To do this, the paper model is cut into two parts so that everything can be removed from the inside. After removing the plasticine object, the paper form is glued back together and at least one layer of papier-mâché is applied on top. It will hold on much better that way. When the model is dry, you can start painting. Here's how to make a piñata with your own hands of a rather complex shape.

Create a perfectly flat surface on the pinata

However, if you need a flat surface, then papier-mâché is sanded. For this, sandpaper is used. When everything is well smoothed, the surface is coated with glue - it will give the paper form a finished look and remove the roughness left during sanding. When the glue dries, the toy is completely examined, and if there are any flaws somewhere, they are pointwise eliminated.

Only when the form is completely satisfied with the master, it is painted. Any paint is suitable for this. If gouache or watercolor is taken, then to shine the surface, they are mixed with glue, which, firstly, will protect the surface from moisture, and secondly, the paint will shimmer in the sun. Sometimes glitter is added to it, in general, the main thing is to improvise and try to do it.

After painting, some professionals varnish their products, but such piñatas do not break, they are stored as an original element of the interior.

The article described how to make a piñata with your own hands. The master class described the entire process in detail - from start to finish. We started with a simple enough shape to make a piñata for children and give them indescribable pleasure, and then moved on to how to make a real work of art in any shape, without relying on the image of a ball.

Despite the fact that the tradition of putting gifts in piñatas is very old, nowadays it has found a new breath.
